Where to Look for a Pennsylvania Inmate or Record
Pennsylvania custody is divided among DOC state prisons, county jails and county prisons, Philadelphia's city/county jail system, federal BOP custody, ICE detention, VINE notifications, and court dockets. For state-sentenced prisoners and parolees, use the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections locator at Locate an Inmate or Parolee or the direct Inmate and Parolee Locator. - For someone held in a county jail or county prison, start with the County Directory and then use the county's inmate records guidance.
- For booking-photo questions, review jail rosters & mugshots, because Pennsylvania does not operate one statewide mugshot roster.
- For charges, docket events, bail entries, sentencing entries, or court dates after an arrest, use court records after an arrest and the Unified Judicial System case search.
- For a specific jail, state prison, federal prison, ICE facility, work-release center, or documented detention location, use the Facility Directory.
